As spring weather kicks into high gear it’s no time like the present to get ready for summer. As you prepare your body for summer it’s only right that your hair should follow suit. I have formulated a bundle of essential products to keep your hair healthy and strong throughout the summer!
1. Influance Deep Cleansing Shampoo: This clarifying shampoo gently and effectively removes the residual buildup of chlorine and environmental pollutants while leaving hair healthy with plenty of sheen.
I use this shampoo for the first two shampoos to ensure that the hair is clean and free of buildup.
2. Influance Honey Almond Shampoo: This unique shampoo is made with a proprietary blend of sulfate free cleansing agents that give a voluminous lather to gently clean while not stripping hair of it’s natural oils. It is great for color treated hair.
Use this shampoo as your next step. NOTE: If you have scalp issues such as dandruff, psoriasis, dry scalp, or seborrheic dermatitis I suggest using the Influance Rosemary Mint shampoo & conditioner instead.
3. Influance Honey Almond Conditioner: A lightweight conditioner that will replenish the driest of hair with organic moisturizing ingredients such as argan oil, jojoba oil, and avocado oil. This conditioner detangles instantly, and softens the hair for greater manageability and superior penetration.
After squeezing the excess water out of your hair apply the honey almond conditioner liberally. Make sure it is evenly distributed. Detangle the hair from ends to roots while conditioner is in place.
NOTE: To use as a deep conditioner apply a plastic cap and sit underneath a heated dryer for 5-10 minutes.
4. Influance Coconut Milk Leave In Conditioner: Great for natural hair! It is designed to protect hair both inside and out. This lightweight mist of healthy hair nutrition absorbs deep into the hair to strengthen and fortify hair reducing breakage.
Once conditioner has been rinsed from the hair, towel dry the hair. Spray the leave in conditioner throughout the hair. Detangle from ends to root. This will ensure the leave in has been evenly distributed throughout the hair.
5. Influance Moisture Lock: Unique blend of olive, soybean, and jojoba oils with cocoa and shea butters to form a rich moisturizing lotion that locks in these nutritive elements to condition and protect the hair from dryness.
Moisture lock is great as a styling aid for natural styles and protective styles like twist outs, braid outs and flat twists. Use this product throughout the hair to seal in moisture from root to end. Pay close attention to the ends!
6. Influance Natural Oil: A scalp therapy that is specifically formulated to moisturize and promote hair growth. This amazing formula is rich in botanical extracts, essential oils and emollients that relieve itchy scalp, and rejuvenates dry, damaged hair. Use to replenish moisture and natural oils leaving hair full of body and sheen.
Natural oil can be used in conjunction with the coconut milk leave in and moisture lock to moisturize hair when using the LOC (leave in, oil, cream)/LCO (leave in, cream, oil) methods. Natural oil is also great to soothe dry and itchy scalp when wearing protective styles such as braids, crochet braids, or sew ins.
Warm weather is upon us which means music festival season has officially begun! This weekend I had the pleasure of attending the FIRST Dreamville Music Festival in Raleigh, NC. It was the inaugural event for Dorothea Dix Park. J Cole made the decision to bring this festival to his home state and I must say it was a dope event!
We were fortunate to have a day of pleasant weather to enjoy to the artwork and performances. The unfortunate part was that it rained ALL DAY the day before so the festival grounds were muddy. The festival social media page gave all of it’s followers a heads up the day of as to what conditions we should expect so I was prepared!
I had already planned out my outfit the night before due to the rain but seeing the festival post about the muddy conditions solidified my shoe choice. COMBAT BOOTS! So I could rinse them off and wear them again!
After we made our way to the festival the sun finally came out to show its face which made for a great day!
If you have never been to a music festival then the best tip I would give to a festival newbie: DRESS COMFORTABLY! This includes clothing and shoes. If the area generally cools down at night then I suggest you have a jacket handy because festivals can last for hours depending on the artist lineup. The headliners are the last performances so you want to make sure whatever you have on will be comfortable enough for you to get through to the end.
Last year I attended Broccoli Fest in DC which allowed you to have lawn seats. I was so ready to carry my portable chair to Dreamville Festival but days before the festival the marketing department sent out the rules and lets just say I was NOT a happy camper! NO CHAIRS ALLOWED. We arrived around 3:30pm and stood until the festival ended at around 11pm. I realized my age the next day when I woke up and my legs ached continuously as if I had done a full leg workout.
Other than the pain of standing for over 8 hours and then having to walk for another 30 minutes before reaching our cars I can definitely say we had a good time. Next year I’m going to go ahead and budget for VIP tickets. I don’t want to stand that closely to people next year and I want a better view of the stage. We had a decent spot on the park grounds this year but I definitely wouldn’t mind being closer!
Here are a few pictures and videos from Dreamville 2019. J Cole, surprise guest Meek Mill, and Nelly were by far my favorite performances of the day.
Having trouble with Hair Growth? Is your scalp dry and itchy? Haven’t found the right products?
Shopping is totally different than it use to be when I was younger and I’m actually ok with it. I use to dread going to the mall going store to store trying to find different clothing pieces to make an outfit. I would find a top at one store then go to a different store with an outfit idea in mind in search of the perfect piece to make my idea come to life. Searching store to store I would eventually get exhausted when I didn’t find the pieces to my puzzle to make my dream outfit. Now I can honestly say those are the days of old. I no longer have that problem.
Online shopping has been a godsend for me! I can shop multiple online stores and boutiques at one time to put together outfit ideas. It also allows me to send my friends pictures and links and get their advice before I make the purchases. I can search Pinterest for inspiration then get started on duplicating the same look in minutes.
THE MAILMAN LIVES AT MY DOORSTEP THESE DAYS!
Not only is online shopping convenient for clothing but its convenient for just about anything you can imagine. Electronics, books, shoes, travel planning, and even groceries! The possibilities are endless.
We have access to so much right at our fingertips. With all the access we have now we have to make sure we’re being smart about our purchases! You should be using that same access and convenience to compare pricing to make sure you’re getting the best deals on your items.
You should also be getting paid for your purchases!
I mean…. if you’re going to shop you might as well get paid for it! That’s a win win!
One of my favorite apps to shop with is Ebates!
Ebates is handy! If you install the plug in on your web browsers, every time you go to a site that they are affiliated with Ebates will pop up and notify you of your cash back percentage for purchases. All you have to do is activate the link and viola! You’re earning cash for buying things you were going to buy anyway! Ebates will also show coupon codes for any discounts that may be available for your purchases. All you have to do is click the button and it will try every available coupon code to save you money. So you will get a discount AND you get paid for purchasing! I definitely suggest that you sign up for Ebates today and start earning cash for your purchases!
Click the link below to set up your account and start shopping!
Another tool I love for shopping is RetailMeNot.
RetailMeNot is great for online shopping and in store shopping! All you have to do is search the store where you’re shopping and RetailMeNot will show you active coupon codes for online shopping as well as in store coupons that can be scanned by the cashiers. Users of RetailMeNot also comment on the coupons to tell you whether or not the coupons worked for their purchases which is convenient as well!
A third option for that is great for online shopping is Honey.
Its an extension that can be added to google chrome browsers. Honey automatically tests coupons for you! No need to copy and paste codes to test one by one. It will go through several codes to find you the one with the best savings! I’m new to honey but it is super convenient! It saves you a lot of time and hardwork!
Click the link below to join honey and download the extension to your chrome browser!
You may be wondering why should I use all of these applications? My answer is why not? I like to compare pricing! Sometimes there may be a better coupon available that the other may not have! Also, one application may not have one of the stores listed but the other one may. So do your self a favor and try them all!
Saving money on your purchases opens doors for you to keep more money in your pocket! It also allows your dollar to stretch further!
What are some of your favorite shopping apps? I love a good bargain so feel free share your favs! I’m eager to try out some new options!
Now go collect those packages that are sure to be piling up at your doorstep now that you have some new bargaining tools in your arsenal.
Until next time!
Ladies I can’t emphasize enough the importance of a good at home hair care regimen. Since the bulk of my clients are natural I’m going to take the time out to give a hair care regimen to the ladies who enjoy wearing their “wash-n-go.”
I’ve noticed a lot of ladies that enjoy wearing wash-n-go curls typically have issues with dryness. In an effort to help you all combat that I am going to outline a hair care regimen from start to finish using Influance Hair Care products for the LOC/LCO methods.
Step 1: Detangle your hair!
Make sure you have properly detangled your hair before you start shampooing! This will help you avoid matting during the process.
Step 2: Cleanse your hair
Shampoo 2 times with Influance Deep Cleansing Shampoo
Shampoo 1 final time with Influance Honey Almond Shampoo
Step 3: Condition your hair
Apply Influance Honey Almond Conditioner. While the conditioner is still on the hair brush/comb through your hair carefully removing any tangles/knots that may have arose during the shampoo process. If you would like to deep condition apply a plastic cap and sit under a dryer for 5-10 minutes.
Step 4: Towel Dry the hair and Apply a Leave in Conditioner (First step in the LOC method… L stands for leave in)
Spray the hair with Influance Leave-In Conditioner. Make sure to spray evenly throughout the hair.
Step 5: Apply Oil (Second step in LOC method… O stands for Oil)
Apply Influance Natural Oil throughout the hair. Massage the oil in from root to ends. Pay special attention to the ends.
Step 6: Apply Cream (Third step in LOC method… C stands for cream)
Apply Influance Moisture Lock throughout the hair. Evenly distribute it from root to ends like the previous step. Pay close attention to the ends to make sure you’re working the product through to the ends so that the Moisture Lock is sealing in the oil and leave in you applied during the previous steps.
Step 7: Style
Now that your hair is properly moisturized you can style your hair as you normally do for your wash-n-go. Some people just finger comb or twist the curls into action. If you normally use a mousse or setting lotion during this step I suggest the Influance Honey Almond Styling Foam
***If you prefer the LCO method swap steps 5 & 6.
Cheers! Here’s to a properly moisturized head of hair for your future wash-n-go ladies!

I’ve received questions on what products I use to achieve my makeup looks. I’ve made the decision that I would start posting my product details regularly. Here’s the first of many to come!
Below is the full list of products I used to achieve this look:
Here’s the full look of my makeup in natural lighting while I was attending a recent event.
I’ve included some of my favorite makeup products and brushes on my amazon page so that you too can achieve this look. I promise I’ll eventually post a tutorial but in the meantime I hope this list helps.

I don’t know about you but during the cold winter months and the hot summer months my lips need a little bit more TLC (tender love and care) than they normally require. Chapped, dry, and/or cracked lips are not only not attractive but they can also be aggravating and sometimes painful.
To combat the cold dry air of winter or the hot summer heat I have a lip care routine that I like to do a couple times a week! (I also prep my lips before apply lipsticks especially when wearing matte lipsticks.)
Step 1 :
You have to exfoliate those lips! Lips scrubs serve a dual purpose, it will help you remove that dry layer of chapped skin, it will also help to moisturize your lips as well. Once complete you’re left with soft and supple lips. For this step I enjoy using sugar scrubs.
Here are a few recipes to make your own sugar scrubs at home! I suggest picking up some plastic travel containers from your local dollar tree. That way you can save the scrub for later use.
Vanilla Latte Sugar Scrub:
1 cup of brown sugar
1/2 cup of coconut oil
1/2 cup of coffee grounds
2 tsp of vanilla extract
Coconut Vanilla Sugar Scrub:
1 cup of white sugar
1/4 cup of coconut oil
1 tsp of coconut extract
2 tsp of vanilla extract
Cinnamon Sugar Scrub:
2 tbsp of granulated white sugar
1 tsp of ground cinnamon
3 drops of cinnamon essential oil
1 tbsp of coconut oil
1/2 tsp of vitamin e oil
Once you’ve mixed the ingredients together apply a finger tip amount of the lip scrub to your lips and rub in a circular motion. This will help loosen the dry skin away from your lips and moisturize the remaining skin.
Rinse your lips with warm water and pat dry.
Now that your lips are clean and freshly exfoliated
Apply your favorite moisturizing lip balm
If you are applying lipstick, apply it over your moisturizing lip balm. This will help give you a clean even coated application of your lip color while allowing the lip balm underneath to keep your lips moisturized.
Nightly tip: Apply a generous layer of vaseline or lip balm to your lips at night. Skin repairs itself at night so this will help to moisturize your lips while you’re asleep.
Did you make any New Year’s resolutions? Are you on your ” New Year,New Me” grind? Did you cut anybody off in the New Year? Did you start chapter 2019 with any new goals in mind?
I’m always interested in how people set forth to attack the new year. It’s different from person to person of course and also dependent on how happy you were with your previous year’s success. Most people measure how good or bad their year is based on what goals they were able to accomplish, what failures they had, and what they still need to work on going forward.
I’m one of those people! All in all I don’t think 2018 was a bad year for me BUT I do see room for improvement going forward. I’m always looking for ways to improve and become better in different aspects of my life.
Since I’m an entrepreneur a lot of my goals often pertain to my business and how I want to grow, which aspects I want to expand in and also anything new I want to take on. One of the biggest things I’m working on getting better at is planning out my day when working towards my goals. I use to always wonder about people who kept physical planners with them. In my head I always figured that’s what your smartphone is for, right? I thought it was an antiquated practice. Well I was wrong!
I’ve come to realize that writing out a plan of action or attack for your goals is so important. I have a vision board just like most people these days, but looking at the pictures everyday is just a small part of working towards those goals. YOU NEED A PLAN!
How are you going to get all of those things you put on that board? What are you doing to work towards them? Thats where the planning comes in. Let’s face it. Success doesn’t just happen. It’s planned for!
So, you may be wondering, how do I set a plan for my goal? Let’s look at a goal!
Example: I want to lose 30 pounds this year.
So in order to reach that goal you need a plan!
Step 1: Workout 3-4x a week minimum for at least 45 minutes. 30 minutes of that workout needs to be high intensity cardio like the stair master or high intensity interval training.
Step 2: Stop drinking my calories! Switch to drinking water in place of where I would normally drink juice or soda.
Step 3: Eat healthier. Cut back on fast food, processed foods, and blatant carbs. To reward myself once a week pick 1 cheat meal for staying focused!
Step 4: Set small weight goals to work my way up to the final 30 pound goal. My first weight goal is to be down 5 pounds in a month. Weigh myself at the beginning of the month. I will only weigh myself once a week to check my progress.
This is an example of planning out your goals step by step so that you can work towards accomplishing them. The initial 30 pound goal can be a daunting but when broken into 5 pound increments and laying out a plan of action it makes it more doable for you mentally. Once you lay out a plan you’ll know exactly what you need to start working towards your final goal.
Use this same process when attacking other goals you’ve set!
Need a way to organize? Opt for a planner. Here’s the one I use:

See just how much more you accomplish this year by planning out your goals step by step! You may surprise yourself! Something that seems major and far out of reach may come closer within reach for you this year.
A DREAM written down with a date becomes a GOAL. A GOAL broken down into steps becomes a PLAN. A PLAN backed by ACTION makes the DREAM come true.
I’m taking my goals and planning them out piece by piece this year! I’m anxious to see just how much more I get accomplished. I plan to assess my growth quarterly just to make sure I’m on the right track.
Let me know how you plan to attack your goals this year. You might have some tips I can implement into my life as well!
I’m walking through 2019 with my head held high and ready to take the bull by it’s horns! I’m going to make sure it’s my season to win!
